Are you like most of America who loves soda? It is common knowledge that those fizzy drinks are not healthy…yes even the “diet sodas”. (Check out this article on diet soda). Most of the calories that are in those fizzy drinks come from sugar. Need a visual? Look here! On average, a 12oz can of soda contains 140-160 calories and 40 grams of sugar. With a daily recommended sugar intake at 90 grams, you are consuming nearly half of that, with just one can! Sugar (high fructose corn syrup) contained in soda is often converted to fat…which will cause weight gain. Switching from soda to water (obviously the healthiest switch) is a lot easier said then done. So I have searched…and found the perfect alternative for all you soda drinking offenders. I find it to be more refreshing and delicious!
I grocery shop at H-E-B and came across their brand of Organic Italian Soda. I checked the nutrition label and couldn’t throw it in my basket faster! Per serving, the calories are 70-120 and 18-30 grams of sugar (depending on the flavor you choose). The flavors are:
The ingredients are all natural and contains organic sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.**I do not drink this fizzy drink daily, but as a treat when I’m craving a crisp beverage. Green Tea and Water are my daily drink of choice…and should be yours too!
Having a barbecue or get together? Toss in some frozen fruit as ice cubs…looks pretty, tastes delicious, & is natural. A win-win, to me!
